MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR) – 8-WEEK COURSE
What is MBSR?
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based programme that integrates mindfulness meditation and mindful movement to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, pain, and a wide range of health-related challenges.
Developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, MBSR cultivates moment-to-moment awareness while fostering a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to one’s thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
Key Components
• Mindfulness Meditation
Practices such as breathing awareness, body scan meditation, and sitting meditation designed to develop clarity, presence, and emotional balance.
• Mindful Movement
Gentle, yoga-inspired movement that supports physical awareness, grounding, and the integration of mind–body connection.
• Group Sessions
Eight weekly sessions (2 hours each), plus a half-day retreat. Sessions include teaching, guided practice, experiential learning, and supportive group inquiry.
• Home Practice
Participants are invited to engage in approximately 30 minutes of daily mindfulness practice to reinforce learning and cultivate long-term benefits.
Benefits of MBSR
